Common symptoms of a dying window regulator on your Porsche 911 include the window not dropping fully to clear the window seal when opening and closing the door, and also making a crunching, grinding noise when the window is operated. It may sound like sand or gravel is grinding against the window.
In this episode my buddy Bradley and I tackle the task in his 2000 Porsche 911 996 Carrera.

I've done regulators on a few of my cars, but my 996 was in the shop for some other work and I was all-too-happy to let them replace my bad regulator. Not a job I enjoy.
One job I’ve never enjoyed on the 996 is the alternator removal. I think I ended up doing it 7 times on my old 996 and once on Bradley’s!
sync the Auto adjustment by holding the window switch down for 4 seconds than up all the way + four seconds or vice versa. Pretty rare for a regulator to fail in that capacity, not impossible they work or don't unless an obstruction of dirt,debri, or broken component preventing it to go all the way down or up. Unplugging and reconnecting will also sometimes help resync with the battery disconnected it resets once connected. 🤟🏁 #996brotherhood

I had the window drop issue on my 997. It would drop but never go back up. Swapped the motor and problem solved.
